Raw recruits: Arizona signed five basketball recruits during October’s early-signing period, including Mater Dei guard Reggie Geary. The Wildcats’ incoming class is ranked third nationally by Basketball Times magazine, trailing only top-rated Kentucky and Georgia.

Arizona Coach Lute Olson, a former coach at Marina High and Cal State Long Beach, has one of his best recruiting classes, signing a player at each position.

Three of the five recruits are ranked among the magazine’s top 75 in the nation--Etdrick Bohannon, a 6-foot-10 center from Pittsfield (Me.) Central Institute, 6-7 forward Corey Williams of Batavia (Ill.) High and 6-8 forward Joseph Blair of Houston C.E. King High.

According to the magazine, Arizona’s other two recruits--6-6 guard Joe McLean of Concord (Calif.) De La Salle and Geary, a 6-2 guard--just missed the top 75 list.
