Mater Dei senior Todd Acalin won the 152-pound wrestling division of the National Catholic Invitational Wednesday at Santa Margarita High School.

Acalin defeated John Gines of Vallejo St. Patrick, 9-2, in the championship match. Santa Margarita junior Matt Von Der Ahe, the only other Orange County wrestler to make the finals, lost to Damien Herrera of Bishop Amat, 7-3.

Mountain View St. Francis, with four individual titles, won the team competition with 200 1/2 points. La Verne Damien was second with 170 and Bellflower St. John Bosco was third with 149. Santa Margarita was eighth with 87 1/2 and Mater Dei was 13th with 68.
