Cathy Curtis’ coverage of Jean Lorre’s exhibit at (Laguna Art Museum’s satellite gallery in) South Coast Plaza was a shining example of the function of criticism (“ ‘A Dilettante’s Conversation’ Says a Real Mouthful,” Dec. 16). She was able to build a bridge between artist and viewer.
I thoroughly enjoyed the “art and craftiness” of the artist, but the richness of Curtis’ review sent me back an informed viewer.
This was an outstanding review of the best installation I have ever seen at the mall.
