PALM LATITUDES

Tom Johnson’s article on parking at the Getty Museum (“Palm Latitudes,” Nov. 24) greatly exaggerates the problem.
The new museum at the Getty Center in Brentwood will have space for 975 visitors’ cars and 16 buses and RVs--enough for the numbers we expect. Johnson’s figures, 1.3 million visitors and 2,500 cars on a busy Sunday afternoon, are based on our projected maximum of 6,500 Sunday visitors and 4,000 weekly visitors for our first and busiest year. Experience shows that since an average of 2.5 visitors arrive in each car, and cars turn over two or three times during the day, 975 spaces should be adequate.
