Semaza to Make Main-Event Debut at Irvine

IRVINE — A fighter making his main-event debut and another returning to the ring for the first time in 12 years highlight the first two boxing shows of 1992 at the Irvine Marriott.
Mike Semaza, a popular local featherweight from the Westminster Boxing Club who is fighting in his first main event, takes on Alejandro Armenta of Mexico in a 10-round match Jan. 23.
Danny (Little Red) Lopez, 39, the former world featherweight champion, returns to the ring for the first time since 1980 when he headlines the Feb. 27 card.
This will be the eighth year of boxing at the Irvine Marriott, but the first with Roy Englebrecht as promoter.
