‘Day for the Children’ Telethon Raises $6 Million

More than $6 million was raised by World Vision’s “Day for the Children” telethon, the Monrovia-based international relief organization announced Tuesday.
Viewers of World Vision’s seventh annual telethon, broadcast in English and Spanish, pledged $6.2 million to sponsor underprivileged children around the world.
“The large number of calls on Sunday was impressive despite the hardships many Americans face today and despite the bad economy,” said Martin Lonsdale, World Vision’s director of broadcasting.
