Monrovia : Child-Care Talks to Continue

The City Council approved continuing lease negotiations Tuesday with the Santa Anita YMCA for a child-care facility in Recreation Park.
The YMCA board plans to buy a modular classroom that will accommodate 40 children, board member Lynda Fetter said. A playground area will be created next to the new classroom, in a former parking lot south of the YMCA on Mountain Avenue.
Funds for the project have come from a $160,000 grant to the YMCA from the H. N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, Fetter said.
The child-care program, which will include some subsidized spaces, will serve families in Arcadia, Bradbury, Duarte and Monrovia, she said.
