NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Ex-Lover Testifies in Serial Killer Case
- Share via
The former lesbian lover of a suspected serial killer testified that her companion admitted killing a prostitution client and expressed no remorse. Tyria Moore, 29, said that on Dec. 1, 1989, near Daytona Beach, Fla., Aileen Wuornos, 35, confided that she shot and killed Richard Mallory, 51, the previous night. Investigators say Mallory was the first of seven middle-aged men whom Wuornos killed along Florida highways after they picked her up for sex. She has admitted the slayings but said she killed the men only after they became abusive or violent. She is charged with five murders. Wuornos’ lawyers contend that she acted out of desperation and self-defense.
