SECRET SPLENDOR: Since the old Whiting Ranch near Lake Forest was turned into a wilderness park last month, thousands of hikers, bikers and horseback riders have enjoyed the serenity of its shaded trails. . . . But rangers say most visitors miss the most spectacular offering: the Upper Borrego Wash along tiny Red Rock Trail off the main path, where a running stream adds to the splendor of the red sandstone walls. New signs added recently make it easier to find.
