PLACENTIA : Fund-Raising Group for Education OKd
- Share via
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District trustees have approved the formation of a foundation to raise money for educational purposes.
Trustees voted unanimously last week to approve the independent foundation, which will seek local contributions to support school programs and activities. District officials said such fund-raising groups are becoming more common because of cuts in state and federal funding and additional demands on schools.
The foundation must serve all schools in the district equitably.
The creation of a foundation is the latest attempt by the district to raise money for local schools. Placentia-Yorba Linda trustees voted last summer to allow bingo games at high schools, and several booster clubs this fall launched the Sunday afternoon games at Esperanza High School.
