Three Share Lead at Newport Golf Club

NEWPORT BEACH — Tony Grimes, Robin Freeman and Lee Porter each fired six-under-par 65s Friday to share the first-round lead in the Newport Classic Pro-Am at Newport Beach Country Club.
Bob May was one shot back, while Dale Riley, Mike Swartz, Greg Powers, Clark Dennis and Mark Pfeil were two back.
Mike Foster and David Bruns of Mission Viejo Country Club shot a 61 to lead the team competition, one shot ahead of May and Michael Drucker. The tournament concludes today.
