HUNTINGTON BEACH — A 59-year-old motorist died and a 16-year-old pedestrian was listed in critical condition following separate traffic accidents Saturday on Beach Boulevard, police said.
Luong Vi Ngo was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange about 8 p.m. Saturday after the car he was driving collided with another automobile at Beach Boulevard and Edinger Avenue, Police Lt. John Foster said.
Ngo was northbound at 1:55 p.m. when he attempted a left turn against a red light, Foster said. Ngo’s car collided with a car driven by Paul F. Murdock of Brea, who was traveling south on Beach Boulevard. Murdock was proceeding on a green light, police said.
Ngo’s car then collided with another car, driven by Betty F. Knitter, 37, of Garden Grove, in an eastbound left-turn lane on Edinger Avenue, Foster said.
Ngo, who was not wearing a seat belt, was propelled into the passenger-side window support post and suffered face and head injuries. A passenger in Murdock’s car was treated for minor injuries at Humana Hospital-Huntington Beach.
About 9:28 p.m., 16-year-old Jeremy Michael Henson of Huntington Beach was attempting to run across Beach Boulevard at Garfield Avenue against a red light when he was struck by a car driven by Stacey Murray, 22, of Huntington Beach.
Murray was not cited. Henson was transported to UCI Medical Center, Foster said.
