The Young Burton: Walt Disney Home Video has dug into the vault and will release the first film of director Tim Burton (“Batman,” “Beetlejuice,” “Edward Scissorhands”) on April 10. “Frankenweenie,” which Burton created for Disney in the ‘80s, was shown briefly and is about a dog named Sparky and his owner, Victor Frankenstein. Sparky was inspired by a dog Burton had when he was young. . . . So much for Burton’s past. In his future, according to the Hollywood Reporter, is the assignment to direct the film version of Stephen Sondheim’s macabre musical, “Sweeney Todd.” The trade paper noted, however, that the project will probably take some time to get off the ground.
