CAMARILLO : Quiet Gunman Robs First Interstate Bank
- Share via
A man with a gun concealed beneath his shirt robbed a First Interstate Bank branch in Camarillo Monday afternoon before fleeing without a trace, authorities said.
“He was extremely quiet. No one else working in the bank realized what was going on,” said Ventura County Sheriff Sgt. Jerry Weaver. “He didn’t have the baseball cap and sunglasses that most do. He was pretty clean-cut.”
The robber entered the Carmen Drive branch at 3:20 p.m. and waited in line until the last customer was leaving the building before handing a note to one of the tellers, Weaver said. He simultaneously drew back his shirt to display a pistol tucked in his waistband.
Weaver said the robber never pulled out the weapon. He fled in an unknown direction and escaped discovery by deputies on the ground and in a helicopter.
The case has been turned over to the FBI.
