PREP ROUNDUP : Kennedy Stays Undefeated in Garden Grove League

Jermaine Galloway scored 27 points as the Kennedy boys’ basketball team easily beat Garden Grove, 80-61, Monday to remain undefeated in the Garden Grove League.

Galloway also had 12 rebounds for visiting Kennedy (13-6, 8-0).

Teammate Morgan Murakami ended the second quarter by making a 70-foot shot at the buzzer, giving Kennedy a 41-22 lead. Cornell Archer had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Garden Grove (7-11, 3-5).

In other Garden Grove League boys’ games:

Rancho Alamitos 70, Pacifica 56--Pacifica rallied to tie the score early in the fourth quarter but three-point shots by Garret Fukada and Ed Taylor put the game out of reach. Taylor, who made five three-pointers, finished with 21 points for Rancho Alamitos (6-2 in league). Fukada and Anthony Behranu each had 13 points. Chris Vlasic had 17 points for Pacifica (5-13, 3-5).

Los Amigos 69, La Quinta 48--Chris Blythe had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Eddie Benson had 20 points and Jeff Martell had 17 points and nine rebounds for host Los Amigos (6-11, 4-4). Lloyd Bennet had 17 for La Quinta (1-8 in league).

In Garden Grove League girls’ basketball:

Kennedy 49, Garden Grove 43--Lynly Matsumoto had 19 points for visiting Kennedy (11-6, 6-2). Stephanie Bowers had 17 points for Garden Grove (6-2 in league).

Rancho Alamitos 82, Pacifica 43--Shannon James had 22 points and Anita Stecker had 16 in three quarters of play for visiting Rancho Alamitos (11-2, 8-0).

In Arrowhead League girls’ basketball:

Calvary Chapel 69, California School for the Deaf Riverside 33--Blythe Linsey had 28 points and 23 rebounds for visiting Calvary Chapel (13-3, 7-0).

In Arrowhead League boys’ basketball:

Calvary Chapel 95, California School for the Deaf Riverside 68--Sabe Younger had 33 points and 13 rebounds for visiting Calvary Chapel (14-4, 7-0).

In Sunset League boys’ soccer:

Ocean View 1, Huntington Beach 0 (OT)--Scott Roberts scored with two minutes remaining in the second overtime period for the Seahawks (13-4-3, 6-0-1), ranked No. 1 in Orange County. Huntington Beach is 9-7-5, 2-2-3.
