PREP NOTES : Irvine’s Cannon Commits to Play Football at BYU
- Share via
Curt Cannon of Irvine High School said Tuesday he has orally committed to play football at Brigham Young next fall, Irvine Coach Terry Henigan announced Tuesday.
Cannon, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound offensive lineman, chose Brigham Young over Oregon, California and Arizona State. He canceled a visit to Arizona State when he committed to Brigham Young.
Cannon will sign a letter of intent Feb. 5, but his scholarship won’t take effect until 1994. Cannon is a Mormon and will sit out the next two seasons to go on a mission.
“I turn 19 in February, I’ll be eligible to go,” he said. “They’ll hold the scholarship for me while I’m away.”
