Legal File: Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Harvey Schneider ruled Wednesday that Paramount Pictures does not have to pay legal fees to the William Morris Agency, stemming from the studio’s attempts to gain access to Morris’ confidential contracts and names of clients in the ongoing Art Buchwald-Alain Bernheim suit against Paramount over “Coming to America.” Paramount sought the records to determine the going rate for industry payments to producers. Schneider ruled earlier that William Morris did not have to hand them over. William Morris filed a supplemental motion asking that Paramount pay its legal costs.
