I understand that our Postal Service is issuing a stamp honoring Elvis Presley. Now, here’s a peachy chap who debauched himself to death on drugs, booze and sex, and the government has decided that he meets the criteria for national hero status.
This bizarre action should very clearly demonstrate to the world the total bankruptcy of our values, morals and culture. The only standards of success and acceptance American youth ever encounter are those promoting self-indulgence, personal greed, material wealth and political hypocrisy. These are the standards of a corrupt and decaying society, and, if allowed to prevail, our survival as an independent nation is doomed.
This Elvis stamp lunacy must be stopped, if only to preserve some small measure of our national dignity and international respect.
