COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Comes Back to Beat UC Santa Barbara

Kevin Cook’s two-run home run in the seventh inning sparked Chapman to an 8-5 victory over UC Santa Barbara in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Santa Barbara.
Cook drove in Jason White to give the Panthers (23-11) a 4-3 lead. Chapman scored two more runs in the inning and added two in the eighth.
Santa Barbara is 18-13.
In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:
Christ College Irvine 6, Westmont 0--Five pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout and Rob Meinhardt tripled in two runs in the third inning for Christ College Irvine (18-7, 6-2 in conference).
Starting pitcher Mike Adams (7-3) allowed one hit in three innings for the victory. Adams also had three hits and drove in a run. Westmont is 9-15-1, 4-2.
In nonconference baseball:
Southern California College 9, La Verne 4--Justin Pysar hit a two-run home run in the fourth and Josh Sewell had two hits and two runs batted in for SCC (12-12-1).
In Golden State Athletic Conference softball:
Southern California College 7-3, Point Loma Nazarene 4-6--Renee Hernandez drove in the winning run in the fifth inning of the second game, which was called after five innings because of darkness. Hernandez had three hits, including a triple. She also scored for the Vanguards (13-5, 5-1).
