In Empire League baseball:

Katella 5, Cypress 2 (8 innings)--The visiting Knights scored three runs with two outs in the eighth on a wild pitch and Orlando Gonzalez’s two-run double. Kyle Evans had a home run and double for Katella.

Garden Grove League baseball:

Kennedy 5, Rancho Alamitos 3--Scott Jones hit a third-inning homer and scored twice for the visiting Fighting Irish (7-3, 2-1).

Pacifica 2, La Quinta 1--Dave Anderson’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh drove in Jeff Depippo with the winning run for the Mariners (8-3, 3-0). Anderson also had an RBI double in the fifth. La Quinta is 6-4, 1-2.

In Sea View League baseball:

Tustin 3, Corona del Mar 0--Phil Cutti (2-1) pitched a three-hitter, striking out 11, and Derek Baker drove in two runs with a fourth-inning single for the host Tillers (5-3, 3-0).

In Century League girls’ swimming:

Canyon 86, Foothill 84--After 15 years and 73 meets, the host Knights lost a league meet for the first time in the program’s history.
