Help-Wanted Ads Bounce Back: Slightly more help-wanted ads appeared in U.S. newspapers in February compared to a month earlier, even though the unemployment rate hit a six-year high. The Conference Board, a business research group, said that its help-wanted index regained most of the ground it lost a month earlier. The index, based on the volume of job ads in 51 major newspapers across the country, had fallen in January to its lowest level in nine years. Still, unemployment jumped to 7.3% in February, the highest rate since July, 1985.
