THOUSAND OAKS : Proposed Height of Tower Criticized
- Share via
A proposed tower for Thousand Oaks’ planned civic arts plaza is too tall compared with other developments along the Ventura Freeway, officials in neighboring Agoura Hills said.
In a letter on the environmental impact of the $63.8-million civic center project, officials from the Los Angeles County community raised concerns about the height of the 101-foot tower, part of a planned auditorium.
Initially, the tower was supposed to rise 25 feet above the freeway, but according to a development plan amended in September, it will rise 61. Agoura Hills has suggested that the city move the auditorium, a plan that Thousand Oaks has rejected.
The Thousand Oaks Planning Commission is expected to review the height issue at a hearing on Monday.
