Nigel Mansell of Great Britain set a track record and won the provisional pole for Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix at Sao Paulo. Mansell won the first two Formula One races of the season, in South Africa and Mexico.
Driving a Williams-Renault, he was timed in 1 minute 15:703 seconds on his best lap around the 2.58-mile Interlagos track. The old mark was 1:16.392, set by Brazilian Ayrton Senna last year.
