Offensive lineman Elbert Crawford was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack while working out with the Denver Broncos, the team said.
Crawford, who signed a contract with the Broncos last month as a Plan B free agent, was listed in serious condition in Aurora Presbyterian Hospital’s intensive care unit Tuesday night. A hospital spokesman said Crawford underwent angioplasty surgery to clear his arteries.
Raymond Gutin, the Broncos’ team doctor, said the former New England Patrot was first taken to Centennial Health Plaza after suffering chest pains, then airlifted to the hospital. Gutin said that Crawford would remain hospitalized for at least one week.
