Malibu : Pepperdine Plan Upheld
A state appeals court has upheld Pepperdine University’s right to proceed with a long-range development plan that could eventually double the size of its campus.
The ruling last week by the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles was a setback for the 2,000-member Malibu Mountains and Coastal Alliance and another group, the Malibu Country Estates Homeowners Assn. The groups contended that the California Coastal Commission violated the state Coastal Act in approving the plan in 1989.
A Superior Court judge in Los Angeles had earlier ruled in the university’s favor.
