Monrovia : Basketball Challenge
The City Council last week accepted a challenge from the Duarte City Council to a basketball game between the leaders of the neighboring cities.
“I’ll tell them we’ve accepted the challenge, and not only that but we’ll plan to whup ‘em,” said Mayor Robert Bartlett, who added that he will ask that a stand-in be allowed to play in his place.
Bartlett has undergone complicated knee surgery in recent months and occasionally has trouble getting to the podium to present honors and proclamations during council meetings.
The date for the game has not been set.
