Brian Ledbetter, a 1988 Olympian in the Finn class, rode strong winds of 15 to 18 knots to win for the second time in three days and move into first place in the U.S. Sailing Trials at Newport Beach for the first time. Julia Trotman of Syosset, N.Y., won the Europe race to close in on leader Courtenay Becker, Rye, N.Y., 13.7 points to 14.7.
