Exxon Settles Oil Royalty Case: The oil giant will pay Alaska $128 million to settle a longstanding suit over back royalties and interest, lawyers said. The settlement came as jurors were being selected for what was expected to be a six-month trial in state Superior Court. Exxon’s was the last of more than a dozen settlements involving oil companies that were once accused of undervaluing North Slope crude. The state originally sought $170 million from Exxon.
