A first-inning walk kept Harvard-Westlake High’s Adam Richards from throwing a perfect game against visiting Bell-Jeff on Wednesday in a San Fernando League baseball game.
Instead, the senior right-hander settled for his first career no-hitter, as the Wolverines rolled over Bell-Jeff, 7-0.
Richards (2-3), who struck out 14, struck out the last nine batters he faced. The walk came with two out in the first inning.
Richards threw only 91 pitches to beat the Guards (0-3 in league play).
Rian O’Meara had two doubles and Todd Lamkin went two for three to lead the Wolverines (9-4, 2-1).
