BURBANK : $10,000 State Grant Sought for 265 Trees
- Share via
The Burbank Park and Recreation Department will apply for a $10,000 state urban forestry grant to buy 265 trees for planting in a neighborhood with relatively few trees.
Department officials said they want to buy the 15-gallon trees for an area directly behind Burbank Airport that is bounded by Pacific Avenue on the north, Jeffries Avenue on the south, Hollywood Way on the east and Manning Street and Dymond Street on the west.
Officials said the neighborhood is one of the city’s most deficient in parkway trees, which are those planted near curbs.
Park and recreation officials said they hope to plant about 5,000 trees over the next 10 years in neighborhoods that lack parkway trees.
