Abrams, Weiner Advance at Easter Bowl Tennis

MIAMI — Geoff Abrams of Newport Beach won two matches Thursday to advance to the boys’ 14 singles final, and Glenn Weiner of Cypress reached the semifinals of the boys’ 16 singles at the Easter Bowl Junior Tennis Championships at the Doral Resort and Country Club.
Abrams, seeded third, defeated Edward Rubin of Lafayette, La., 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, in the quarterfinal, and second-seeded Bob Bryan of Camarillo, 6-4, 6-2, in the semifinals.
Abrams will face top-seeded Keith Brill of Columbia, S.C., in today’s final. Brill eliminated fourth-seeded Mike Bryan, Bob’s twin brother, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, in the other semifinal.
Weiner, seeded fourth, ousted ninth-seeded Taryn Burgk of Del Mar, 6-3, 7-5.
