COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Nelson’s Shutout Paces OCC in Softball

Alisha Nelson pitched a two-hit shutout for the second consecutive day as Orange Coast defeated Moorpark, 3-0, in the College of the Desert softball tournament Thursday. Nelson is 15-5.
In the Channel Coast baseball tournament:
Long Beach City 5, Rancho Santiago 1--Marty Winchester was two for four with two doubles, two runs batted in and a run scored for the Vikings in a second-round game at Moorpark College. Rene Arias’ second-inning double drove in Steve Thobe for Rancho Santiago (22-10).
In the Monterey Invitational golf tournament:
Saddleback wins--Pomp Braswell took medalist honors, leading the Gauchos to an 11-stroke victory over Monterey.
In nonconference men’s golf:
Orange Coast 400, Citrus 406, Rancho Santiago 410--Dave Robinson shot five-over 77 at Glendora Country Club to pace the Pirates.
