LOS ANGELES : Ex-Building Commissioner Named to Harbor Panel

Mayor Tom Bradley on Friday announced the appointment of Toshikazu Terasawa, a Los Angeles architect and former building and safety commissioner, to the five-member Harbor Commission.
Pending City Council confirmation, Terasawa, 69, will fill the unexpired term of attorney Jun Mori, who recently resigned from the port commission after 15 years.
“It’s a big challenge,” Terasawa said Friday. “I know Jun Mori very well and was sorry to see him resign . . . he’s done an awful lot for the harbor.”
Unlike his predecessor, Terasawa added, he does not expect to encounter the potential “ethical conflicts” arising from public service and private practice. “I don’t think I would have any conflicts,” Terasawa said, noting that he is virtually retired from his architecture partnership.
Previously, Terasawa served 18 years as a building commissioner. He also served from 1984 to 1986 on the Los Angeles Harbor Improvements Corp., a city entity formed for bonding of port improvements.
