Al Martinez on Hatred
Martinez’s hate list was extensive but not all inclusive. He omitted a few groups that it is still, even in these days of hypersensitivity and political correctness, perfectly acceptable to vilify.
White Southerners (rednecks), for instance, Republican conservatives (the lunatic fringe), fat people (why not, they brought it on themselves) and especially evangelical Protestants (holy rollers).
Should you doubt the latter just check Robin Abcarian’s column, ostensibly on Disneyland, of the same date (View) wherein she managed to get in a dig against a street preacher. Relating the incident involving him served no purpose other than to denigrate the man’s (or guy as she called him) faith.
The peaceable kingdom still seems far away.
