BANKING : Financial Consultants to Lead Investment Workshop for Women
- Share via
A financial workshop for women only is scheduled to be held this evening at the Newport Beach Public Library.
Flora Burke and Sue Mamer, consultants for Shearson Lehman Brothers, will conduct the workshop in an effort to help women learn how to build and protect wealth. In talking to businesswomen, Burke and Mamer said they found that even successful female executives are often less sophisticated and less confident than men about investing and managing money.
“Women as investors tend to be ignored by many investment counselors,” Burke said. “There is a perception that they don’t need financial advice. We have found just the opposite to be true.”
The two consultants put together a series of seminars and classes to provide basic information on a range of topics, including investing in the stock market and retirement planning. The workshop, divided into beginning and advanced classes, runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
