ANIMAL FEUD: UC Irvine officials are miffed at what the Orange County People for Animals are planning to say about them at a demonstration on campus today. The activist group claims that crimes “truly horrible” against animals are taking place in UCI research programs. UCI officials insist their animal research is not inhumane, and meets strict federal standards. . . . Activist Eva Park says, “We’d like the students on campus to know what’s going on.” UCI spokeswoman Linda Granell counters: “They’re playing on emotionalism; important research is going on here.”
