Youth Opportunities Foundation will sponsor three free six-hour Scholastic Aptitude Test workshops at USC on May 2, 9 and 16 for 216 juniors from Baldwin Park, El Monte, El Rancho, John Glenn, Montebello, Mountain View and Sierra Vista high schools.
All of the schools have predominantly Latino enrollments. The students were selected by the nonprofit foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing education for Latinos.
Feliz Castro, executive director of the foundation, said private firms offer the review courses for about $700 per student, which none of the selected students can afford.
The program is underwritten by Coca-Cola Foundation, ARCO, Southern California Edison Co. and the Southern California Gas Co.
