A 32-year-old Oceanside man was killed in a stabbing that at first left police puzzled because they could not find the victim.
Police responded to reports that a fight had broken out among a group of men about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Grant Street. They found blood at the scene, but did not know to whom it belonged.
Only later did police learn that Jose Villa-Eleasar had admitted himself to Tri-City Medical Center, where he died shortly afterward.
Police later arrested a suspect, Rafael Romero, 28, residence unknown.
