Checking the Channels: KMEX Channel 34 will preempt a half hour of programming this morning (8:30-9) for a telethon to benefit victims of this week’s gas explosions in Guadalajara. . . . Vice President Dan Quayle will be interviewed live in New York during the first half hour of ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Monday. . . . “The Arsenio Hall Show” will broadcast reruns May 18-22 during Johnny Carson’s last week on “The Tonight Show.” And Cable’s Comedy Central will go dark during Carson’s final show on May 22, airing only a slide saying something like, “We’re watching Johnny Carson’s last show and we encourage our viewers to do the same.”
