WEEKEND TV : Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Tap

ABC waves goodby to three of its longest-running shows, the new police chief speaks out and L.A.’s Latinos celebrate the weekend away.
Tonight at 8 on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42, “Who’s the Boss?” completes its eighth and final season with an hourlong episode that promises a happy ending for Tony (Tony Danza) and Angela (Judith Light). “Growing Pains” ends after seven years with an hourlong finale of flashbacks at 9. And “MacGyver” caps its seven-year run at 10 with a show in which Mac (Richard Dean Anderson) discovers he has a 19-year-old son.
Sunday, Channel 2 will present “L.A. Fiesta Broadway,” a 90-minute live special beginning at 4:30 p.m. from the downtown site of the nation’s largest Cinco de Mayo celebration. The program will feature performances by Gerardo, Paul Rodriguez, Luis Angel and the salsa group Poncho Sanchez.
On a less festive note, Willie Williams, the man chosen to succeed Daryl Gates as police chief, sits down with Channel 2’s “Newsmakers” today at 4:30 p.m. for a wide-ranging interview on such topics as the Rodney G. King incident and trial and the reforms that he plans to implement when he takes over the police department.
