A 34-year-old Northridge man was killed late Thursday night when his car collided with a truck driven by a suspected drunk driver, police said.
Chris Cervone died at the scene of the accident at Balboa Boulevard and Devonshire Street, Los Angeles Police Officer Bill Rice said.
The driver of the truck, Salvador Salazar, 26, of Granada Hills was arrested on suspicion of murder, Rice said. Cervone was traveling north on Balboa Boulevard about 11 p.m. when his car collided with Salazar’s truck, which was traveling west on Devonshire Street. Salazar may have run a red light, Rice said.
Salazar was driving with a suspended license and was on probation for an unspecified conviction, Rice said. An empty 40-ounce beer bottle was found on the floor of his truck.
He was being held without bail at the Van Nuys Jail.
