Hicks Defeats Schwartz in Speedway Main Event

COSTA MESA — Gary Hicks of Riverside won the four-lap scratch main event in the weekly speedway motorcycle program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa was second, Chris Manchester of Hesperia third and Mike Faria of Colton fourth.
Faria won the eight-lap handicap main event. Steve Lucero of Riverside was second, Hicks was third, Robert Pfetzing of Orange was fourth and Manchester was fifth, Charlie Venegas of Costa Mesa sixth, Lance King of Huntington Beach seventh, Russ Wagman of Valencia eighth.
Mike Dalbey of Seal Beach won the second division main and Heath Hammond of Victorville won the third division main.
