Painful Lessons of Peloza’s Fight Against District

Regarding the story “Teacher Must Pay for Suit on Evolution” (April 15): I am appalled to hear that Mr. Peloza is being punished for expressing his opinion about teaching evolution to high school students. Evolution has not been scientifically proven and can legitimately be considered a religion as well. As a high school student, I feel that teachers should expose us to the theory of evolution and to creation to enable us to examine both sides fairly without bias.
I applaud Peloza’s courage to stand up for his rights and his opinions. I also sincerely hope that this does not discourage others to voice their opinions, whatever they may be.
