Ways to Save Poison Control Center
It is terrifying to think of the lives that may be lost because the Orange County Poison Control Center does not have enough funding to continue operation.
Why couldn’t they replace the toll-free 800 number with a 976 phone number? I would gladly pay a few dollars to find out if my child had ingested something dangerous and would just as gladly pay a couple dollars more to cover the cost of those who could not afford to pay. Surely the physicians who use the number could do the same.
Trying to make the center self-sufficient in this manner is still cheaper than a trip to the doctor or the emergency room.
