IRVINE : Community Awards Presentation Set

The Irvine Valley College Foundation will hold its fifth annual Community Awards Dinner on May 5 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.

The event is designed to honor members of the community and to forge new partnerships in education, said foundation president Brian Manning.

Among those being honored at this year’s dinner are Helen Cameron, a former member of the Irvine Unified School District’s Board of Education; Rowene Aguirre Medina, a member of the Tustin chapter of the American Assn. of University Women; Karen Klammer, director of contract education for Coastline Community College, and Ellen Salasche, a legislative aide with the California Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s corporate honoree is the Irvine Health Foundation.

“The honorees have helped their communities become better places to live for future generations,” Manning said.

The cost of the event is $75 per person, with corporate tables available for $750. Proceeds from the black-tie event will help the foundation in continuing to help fund educational programs and activities at the college, officials said.

The event will begin at 6 p.m.

The theme of this year’s event is “Discovering Our Future.”
