California 1-1, Cal State Northridge 0-0 (1st game, 10 innings; 2nd game, nine innings)--Cal recorded a nonconference sweep that stalled Northridge’s drive for an NCAA Division I at-large playoff berth.
In the first game, Keri Kropke delivered a one-out sacrifice fly to drive in Marlo Cruz-Sands from third. Northridge right-hander Kathy Blake (24-6), who yielded five hits, struck out four and walked one, was charged with the loss.
Cal right-hander Michelle Granger (22-9) pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts.
In the second game, Jennifer Horgan singled to drive in Lidia Stiglich from third with one out in the ninth. With one out, Stiglich singled and advanced to third on a single by Tonya Seymore. Horgan followed with Cal’s third consecutive hit.
Cal improved to 36-12. Northridge is 43-23-1.
