THE ENVELOPE? Laguna Hills’ Leslie Baer-Brown, above, was shocked when the documentary from her first screenplay won the top award at last weekend’s U.S. Environmental Film Festival in Colorado. . . . “We were up against National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, and we made this with no money,” she says. The nonprofit documentary is about the plight of the Yanomami, Native Americans who live in the Venezuelan rain forest. “These people are being destroyed,” she says.
