A man whose Ford Bronco struck and killed two workers on the Long Beach Freeway Monday had a preliminary blood-alcohol reading that was more than three times the legal limit, the CHP reported.
Kenny Autrey, 30, of Apple Valley was booked for second-degree murder and held at the downtown Los Angeles Men’s Central Jail, said California Highway Patrol Officer Dave Salcido. Autrey’s preliminary blood-alcohol measurement was 0.26%, compared to a legal limit of 0.08%, and beer cans were found in his vehicle, according to investigators.
Salcido said that Autrey had been arrested previously for driving while under the influence.
Autrey’s Ford Bronco was in the No. 2 southbound lane and going about 85 m.p.h. when it drifted into the center divider, Salcido said.
