The Future of the Queen Mary
In response to your April 23 article regarding the Queen Mary, I was quoted as saying that I privately suspect “that I am spinning my wheels. That minds are made up, and they are going to close it.”
When I discussed this with your reporter I was only referring to one harbor commissioner, and I said that my impression of my conversation with that commissioner was that no matter what I said to him I was just spinning my wheels. I felt his mind was made up and he wanted to close the Queen Mary.
I further stated there was broad community support (3,000 signatures on our petition) as well as City Council support in saving the ship, and I believe the Queen and jobs can be saved.
