Five Orange County volleyball teams are ranked in the top 10 in this week’s Southern Section 4-A coaches’ poll, the most this season.
Newport Harbor is ranked third, followed by Irvine (fourth), Laguna Beach (seventh), Huntington Beach (ninth) and Capistrano Valley (10th).
Esperanza is ranked third in 3-A. Whittier Christian is top-ranked in 2-A, and Calvary Chapel is eighth.
The rankings are especially important in the final week of the season as they help determine the seedings for the section playoffs. Pairings will be announced May 11.
